TSMC President Wei Zhejia stated that the 2nm progress is optimistic and will maintain the pace of entering mass production by 2025, as the 2nm technology has passed certification and reached the yield target for N3E; 3nm continues to make progress, and N3E has achieved its yield target through certification. He revealed that after internal evaluation, the overall power consumption performance of N3P is sufficient to match that of its competitor 18A (below 2nm process), and even enjoys better technological maturity and cost advantages. Therefore, it is certain that 2nm will also outperform its competitors. HPC and smartphone customers have a high interest in 2nm, and it is expected to be available to customers in the first half of 2025 and enter mass production in 2026. AI needs to focus on improving energy efficiency, so not only does it require process reduction and performance, but customers will also participate in the early stages.
