The average age of Vietnam is 30 to 35 years old, which is relatively young, but on the other hand, the phenomenon of aging of young children is increasing. According to the World Bank, 8.95 million people aged 65 or older will be living in Vietnam in 2022, an increase of 53 percent from 2012. The proportion of people over 65 years old in the total population increased from 7% in 2012 to 9% in 2022. Influenced by the Vietnamese government's population policy and economic growth to promote the improvement of living standards, the birth rate and death rate have declined, which is the cause of aging. Vietnam's total fertility rate in 2021 is only 1.9, below the 2.06-2.07 needed to sustain the population. Vietnam, with its abundant young labor force, has attracted attention as a destination for shifting production from places like China, but an aging society is gradually approaching.
