Online travel giant Expedia announced on February 26th that as part of its latest restructuring plan, the company will lay off nearly 1500 employees worldwide in order to invest in "core strategic growth areas.".
As of December 31 last year, the company has 17100 employees in over 50 countries, of which about half are engaged in technical work.
