Alphabet's Google plans to start producing Pixel smartphones in India, joining its smartphone manufacturing peers Apple (AAPL), and migrating its supply chain to regions outside of China.
Google said in a statement on Thursday that it will start with the latest Pixel 8 series, which will be launched in early 2024.
Google stated that the company "will collaborate with international and domestic manufacturers to produce Pixel smartphones locally in India" as part of India's "Made in India" plan.
