On December 20th local time, Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet, stated that the US Department of Justice's plan to force it to sell Chrome browser was "extreme" and contrary to the law, and urged federal court judges to act cautiously to avoid stifling innovation and future investments. According to court documents, Google responded to the Department of Justice's request and proposed its own remedies. Google proposes to relax agreements with Apple and other companies regarding default browsers. Google stated that non exclusivity can be set up, and for Android phone manufacturers, their Play Store can be separated from the Chrome browser.
On November 20th local time, the US Department of Justice and some states proposed a series of reforms to Google's business practices, including forcing the company to sell its Chrome browser business. The US Department of Justice pointed out in the document that the proposal to spin off Chrome is to permanently end Google's control over this key search portal and allow competitors' search engines to access this browser, which is an Internet portal for many users.
