On January 10th, Meta's Instagram and Facebook will impose content restrictions on youth accounts. The new restrictions on youth accounts mean that teenagers will not be able to view or search for "harmful content", even if it is shared by friends or people they follow. Meta stated that the company consulted experts in adolescent development to determine which types of content are not suitable for teenagers. The new content restriction measures are being sued by Meta in over 40 states, accusing the technology company of misleading the public about the dangers it poses to teenagers on its platform.
