Beijing, November 1 (Xinhua) -- After a period of adjustment, the Chinese photovoltaic industry has shown signs of improvement. Qian Jing, Global Vice President of Chinese photovoltaic company Jinko Solar Energy Co., Ltd., expressed confidence in China's photovoltaic industry in an interview with China News Service on November 1st.
In terms of the photovoltaic industry chain, several leading component companies have recently seen varying degrees of price increases in their shipments. From October 30th to 31st, the photovoltaic sector continued to strengthen, with multiple stocks hitting the limit up.
JinkoSolar's recently released third quarter performance showed that in the first three quarters of 2024, JinkoSolar's photovoltaic product shipments continued to rank first in the world, and its gross profit margin increased to 11.8% month on month.
Currently, China's photovoltaic industry is facing international trade barriers and domestic competition challenges. When it comes to the development prospects of the photovoltaic industry, Qian Jing believes that photovoltaics will become the main energy source for sustainable development in the future. Currently, there is still some distance to go from this goal globally, but the demand and potential of the photovoltaic industry are enormous.
The International Energy Agency (IEA) recently released its 2024 Renewable Energy Report, which predicts that solar photovoltaics will become the core force driving the rapid development of renewable energy worldwide in the next decade. By 2030, it is expected that 80% of the 5500 gigawatts of new clean energy installed capacity worldwide will come from solar energy.
Qian Jing stated that with the development of technology, the cost of electricity per kilowatt hour has further decreased and the rise of energy storage applications has highlighted the economic and reliability advantages of photovoltaics, which will become the first lever for global clean energy transformation.
Qian Jing is full of confidence in the current development of the photovoltaic industry. She said that China's photovoltaic industry had also been impacted before, but eventually crossed the cycle and gradually took the lead globally. In the past decade, China has promoted a cumulative reduction of over 80% in the average cost per kilowatt hour of global photovoltaic power generation projects, and wind and photovoltaic products cover more than 200 countries and regions around the world.
Qian Jing pointed out that this cycle is relatively long, but the strength and resilience of top companies cannot be compared, and the diversification of market regions, photovoltaic economy, and demand scale cannot be compared. Crossing the cycle is a matter of time.
In the current context, this optimistic attitude comes from the understanding of industry development. She said that currently, the development of the entire new energy industry, including photovoltaics, is receiving special attention, but there is still a lot of room for new energy to become a true main power source.
Qian Jing stated that the issue of photovoltaic economy has been resolved, but the impact of intermittent characteristics on the power grid still needs to be adjusted. The pressure bearing capacity of many countries' power grids is relatively weak, and their regulation ability is poor when facing the supply of new energy electricity. The consumption problem at the application end has not been completely solved, which is the reason for the current short-term mismatch.
In the face of challenges, Qian Jing believes that the demand for new energy is far from reaching its ceiling, and the key for the industry lies in how to adjust the pace and solve problems. 'When we meet on a narrow road, the brave win,' she said. In the gentle development stage, it is difficult for enterprises to have outstanding performance.
