On the morning of November 6th, Baidu released an internal email announcing a new round of cadre promotion and rotation: Wang Yunpeng, Baidu Vice President and General Manager of the Autonomous Driving Business Unit, was promoted to Vice President of the Group and served as the head of Baidu's Intelligent Driving Business Group (IDG), reporting to the CEO.
Baidu stated to Securities Daily that, based on Baidu's deep accumulation and years of layout in the AI field, it adheres to technological innovation, creates a transportation platform, and accelerates commercialization. We look forward to Wang Yunpeng leading IDG to continue to strive, climb the intelligent driving industry to Mount Everest, and contribute to Baidu's mission of "using technology to make the complex world simpler".
Li Zhenyu, former business leader of IDG and senior vice president of Baidu, will rotate as CEO assistant and chairman of the Group's Technology Ethics Committee to report to the CEO. It is understood that Li Zhenyu has been the head of IDG since August 2017, serving as a leading figure in building a team for the intelligent driving business. In the internal email, Baidu also expressed its gratitude to Li Zhenyu for his important contributions.
According to data, Wang Yunpeng joined Baidu in April 2012 and has been the head of the autonomous driving business unit since February 2018. He has made outstanding contributions to ensuring that autonomous driving technology is at the forefront of the world, creating industry-leading autonomous driving vehicle products, and achieving safe and stable large-scale operation.
It is worth mentioning that Wang Yunpeng is also another senior management cadre trained by Baidu in recent years, who understands both technology and products. He comes from a technical background and has years of experience in product development and management in leading technology companies. He holds over 20 patents for autonomous driving directions. Previously, Wang Yunpeng led a team to establish and open the world's largest automated driving and vehicle road collaborative application testing base, "Beijing Apollo Park," organized the development of Baidu's sixth generation mass-produced unmanned car Apollo RT6, and built Baidu's autonomous driving travel service platform, Radish Quick Run.
At present, Radish Run has become the world's largest autonomous driving travel service provider, providing a total of over 4 million passenger services. All unmanned fleets have entered multiple regions of cities such as Wuhan, Chongqing, Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen.
