Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy denied Saturday that the war with Russia has reached a stalemate and stated the need for more cooperation with allies to strengthen air defense.
A few days before his speech, Valery Zaluzhny, the Commander in Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, stated in an article that the conflict is entering a new stage of stagnation and depletion, which may allow Moscow to rebuild its military power.
At a press conference with the visiting President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, Zelensky said, "Today's time has passed and people are tired. But this is not an impasse."
Russia controls the sky. We care about our army
Zelensky acknowledged the difficulties in entering the 21st month of the war, and Kiev has not yet achieved any significant success in the counterattack.
But he said that the Ukrainian army has no choice but to continue fighting and demand more support from Western allies, especially in air defense.
The Ukrainian army began a counterattack in the east and south in early June, making slow progress in crossing large minefields in Russia, but Russia launched a strong counterattack in the east.
The Ukrainian military reports in daily updates that the Russian military is launching numerous attacks near Avdiivka, Lyman, and Mariinka in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine.
The report also states that the Ukrainian army is continuing to advance towards the Sea of Azov in the southeast.
