At the same time, JD.com stated that in order to improve the upstream and downstream recycling ecosystem of the home appliance industry and improve the efficiency of reusing old home appliances, especially for the small home appliance category, JD.com will gradually build 10 central disposal warehouses that integrate recycling, sorting, dismantling, and disposal in 2024.
In addition, Beijing Business Daily reporters learned that JD.com will focus on small and large household appliances such as air conditioners, vacuum cleaners, and coffee machines, and launch a plan to increase the prices of old machines. Taking air conditioning as an example, the price of used units on the hook has been increased to 250 yuan at once, and the price of used units on the cabinet has been increased to 450 yuan, both of which have increased by more than 15%.
According to JD, in 2024, JD will jointly invest 6.5 billion yuan with brands such as home appliances, 3C digital, and automobiles to provide support for a new round of large-scale equipment updates and consumer goods trade ins. According to data provided by the JD platform, from 2023 to present, more than 16 million users have purchased home appliances and home goods through trade in. The number of first-time trade in users has increased by 200% year-on-year, and search terms such as "trade in" and "home appliances trade in" have increased by 320% year-on-year.
