Barclays CEO Vinca Krisnan stated in an interview on March 18th that the group is seeking to expand its relationships with various sovereign wealth funds and private equity giants, and to improve the profitability of its investment banking division by expanding its consulting and stock underwriting business.
Venkata Krisnan stated that these "companies with trillions of dollars of funds available for trading" are key clients that Barclays hopes to win over, and the bank hopes to explore new avenues beyond the underwriting of large, multinational corporate bonds. He stated that the bank already has the talent needed to achieve this transformation.
