GlaxoSmithKline, a pharmaceutical giant based in London, UK, said on Monday that its oral medication for treating gonorrhea has achieved the main goal of non inferiority in an important post clinical trial compared to existing combination therapy methods. GlaxoSmithKline stated that this later trial showed that the therapeutic effect and safety of "gepotidacin" were not inferior to the combined treatment of intramuscular injection of the antibiotic ceftriaxone and the antibacterial tablet azithromycin.
