Novo Nordisk has reached a settlement with two American institutions selling counterfeit versions of Ozempic. On February 9th, Novo Nordisk announced that it has reached a settlement with a clinic in Tallahassee, Florida and a spa in Miami. Novo Nordisk accuses these two institutions of engaging in false advertising, trademark infringement, and unfair competition. Florida court records show that these two institutions have agreed to stop using the Novo Nordisk trademark to sell compound formulations semaglutide, the active ingredient of Novo Nordisk branded drugs, and have agreed to explicitly disclose within 12 months that unapproved compound formulations have not been approved by regulatory authorities in terms of safety, efficacy, or quality, and that versions approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are available on the market. The compensation amount is not listed in the court documents. Novo Nordisk will not disclose any further information.
