Microsoft announced on February 7th that it is in talks with CISPE in an attempt to resolve the EU's antitrust complaint against its cloud computing licensing practices. Resolving this issue through a bilateral approach can help Microsoft avoid a potentially lengthy investigation by the European Union, as the investigation could result in fines and require Microsoft to change its business behavior. CISPE's members include Amazon and 26 small cloud computing providers from the European Union. The organization filed a complaint to the European Commission at the end of 2022, alleging that the new contract terms implemented by Microsoft on October 1 have damaged the cloud computing ecosystem in Europe.
