Alaska Airlines announced on January 25th that it expects adjusted earnings per share for the full year of 2024 to be between $3.00 and $5.00. This expectation includes a negative impact of $150 million caused by the grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX 9 fleet, and assumes that the 737 MAX 9 fleet will gradually resume operations by early February. Prior to the grounding of the 737 MAX 9, Alaska Airlines expects its full year capacity to increase by 3% to 5% in 2024 compared to 2023. Considering the possibility of grounding and future delivery delays, the company expects capacity growth to be at or below the lower limit of this range.
