On the morning of January 15th, BlackRock announced the appointment of Fan Hua as the head of the China region, and Zhang Pengjun as the general manager of BlackRock Jianxin Wealth Management Co., Ltd. ("BlackRock Jianxin Wealth Management"). This appointment will officially take effect after regulatory approval.
Tang Xiaodong, the head of BlackRock China, resigned in June 2023. On January 13th, BlackRock announced the appointment of Chen Huilan as the Asia Pacific regional manager, replacing Rachel Lord, who will be transferred to London to serve as BlackRock's international business manager. Meanwhile, Andrew Landman and Hiroyuki Shimizu were appointed as Deputy Directors for the Asia Pacific region.
According to public information, Fan Hua joined BlackRock CCB Wealth Management in 2022 and has over 25 years of rich experience in the investment industry. He has served as the Chief Investment Officer of CMB Wealth Management, as well as at China Investment Corporation and Goldman Sachs.
Fan Hua graduated from the Mathematics Department of Peking University and obtained a PhD in Finance from Columbia University in the United States. From his work experience, Fan Hua specializes in general asset allocation, particularly in bonds and absolute returns.
After obtaining a PhD in finance from Columbia University, Fan Hua first worked at Goldman Sachs for 11 years as the head of the Global Risk Modeling department. Later, he worked at China Investment Corporation for 10 years, engaged in asset allocation and multi asset absolute return investment, and served as the Director of Asset Allocation Department and Bond and Absolute Return Department at CIC. Prior to joining BlackRock Jianxin Wealth Management, Fan Hua served as the Chief Investment Officer of CMB Wealth Management and later as the General Manager of BlackRock Jianxin Wealth Management.
For this appointment, Fan Hua said: "It's an extraordinary journey to lead CCB BlackRock. I'm glad to have the opportunity to take on greater responsibilities. This new challenge provides a unique opportunity for us to deepen our commitment to the Chinese market. We will continue to be committed to fulfilling our fiduciary responsibilities, better serving customers, and meeting their needs with comprehensive investment solutions."
At present, BlackRock's main businesses in China include BlackRock Fund, BlackRock Credit Management, and QDLP business that raises funds from domestic sources to invest in overseas markets, actively building investment capabilities in equity, fixed income, and diversified asset strategies.
Zhang Pengjun's career in the financial industry began in 1994 and has been a core member of BlackRock China's leadership team for the past eight years. He currently leads and supports BlackRock's overall domestic business management and operations team, and serves as the chief liaison for cooperation with China Construction Bank. Previously, Zhang Pengjun also served as the Deputy General Manager, Chief Information Officer, and Chief Operating Officer of BlackRock Fund. On July 1st last year, BlackRock Fund announced that its former deputy general manager, Zhang Pengjun, had resigned due to internal work arrangements.
Public information shows that Zhang Pengjun holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from the Rothmann School of Management at the University of Toronto, a Master's degree in Economics from Northeastern University of Finance and Economics, and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). Formerly served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Information Officer of BlackRock Fund Management Co., Ltd., General Manager, Legal Representative, and Chief Operating Officer of BlackRock Investment Management (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., General Manager, Legal Representative, Chief Operating Officer, and Compliance Risk Manager of BlackRock Overseas Investment Fund Management (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., and Chief Operating Officer of Investment Banking Department of UBS Securities Co., Ltd, Vice President of Wealth Lyon Securities Co., Ltd., Senior Director of Zhonghong Life Insurance Co., Ltd., Senior Financial Manager of Imperial Commercial Bank of Canada, Strategic Analyst of the Board of Directors of Fuguo Fund Management Co., Ltd. (Shanghai), and Head of Business Department of Shenyin Wanguo Securities Co., Ltd. (Dalian).
