Coinbase is seeking a key acquisition to launch cryptocurrency derivatives in the European Union. On January 5th, local time, Coinbase, a cryptocurrency exchange, stated in a blog post that it is seeking to acquire an entity that has obtained a MiFID II license, which will enable Coinbase to provide cryptocurrency based derivatives to qualified customers in the EU region. The transaction is yet to be approved by regulatory authorities and is expected to be completed later in 2024.
