On December 23rd, the first season of the "Sunshine Star · Vulnerable Children Assistance Program" jointly initiated by Qifu Technology and Shanghai Paving Stone Youth Development Center concluded its programming learning. Nearly 30 young students attended the closing ceremony and visited Qifu Technology's Lujiazui workplace in Shanghai to experience the practical application of facial recognition, AI intelligent Q&A. It is reported that the plan aims to help migrant children in cities receive technology education together with urban children, bridging the digital divide.
It is reported that in the "Sunshine Star · Assistance Program for Vulnerable Children", volunteer employees of Qifu Technology have transformed into "technology instructors", providing digital literacy and programming knowledge enlightenment for migrant children, and promoting the popularization of education in the field of technology. In this project, Qifu Technology has produced a team of 8 volunteers called "Technology Lecturers", mostly senior developers who provide long-term guidance to migrant children and form a teacher-student relationship with them. They truly transform caring actions into long-term digital universal benefit trials and public welfare activities into long-term companionship teaching.
In the assistance plan, Qifu Technology and Paving Stone Youth Development Center chose Scratch programming as the course content. Through Scratch courses, children can easily learn programming, cultivate creativity, logical thinking, and digital literacy, and ultimately develop the ability to think independently and solve problems. After three months of study, migrant children not only gained a preliminary understanding of the underlying logic of internet technology, but also opened the door to technological enlightenment.
At the same time, in order to allow children to intuitively experience the implementation of technology in real life, the Qifu Technology lecturer team has also specially developed an application of AI voice question answering technology. At the closing ceremony, the lecturers invited the students to experience and explain the underlying knowledge and principles, which attracted the children to be eager to try.
After the end of the course, Qifu Technology and Paving Stone Youth Development Center also awarded honorary certificates to the technology lecturer group. Elementary school students also expressed their gratitude to the technology lecturer. "Thank you, Teacher Li. The programming knowledge he taught us is very interesting, and as I grow up, I also want to become a programmer," said a primary school student. While receiving gratitude from the children, the technology lecturer was also moved by their curiosity and enthusiasm. "Happiness is two-way, and their thirst for knowledge and the joy of harvest have also infected me," said a technology lecturer.
