On December 14th, IBM announced that it will collaborate with five universities in Japan, the United States, and South Korea in the field of quantum computers that can perform complex calculations at ultra-high speeds, and cultivate up to 40000 student talents in the next decade. These five universities are the University of Tokyo, Keio University, Yonsei University in South Korea, Seoul University, and the University of Chicago in the United States. IBM Senior Vice President Dario Gill held a press conference in Tokyo, emphasizing that "quantum computers are an important technology that affects work methods, life, and is related to economic prosperity and security.". The US Ambassador to Japan, Emmanuel, stated that he hopes to cooperate with Japan and South Korea to "maximize the use of this technology.".
