According to a statement from the Mexican National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH), the Mexican oil regulatory agency approved Shell PLC's request to return four deepwater oil fields in the Gulf of Mexico to the country on Friday. CNH stated, "The reason for supporting the return is limited sediment thickness." The effective date for returning the oil field is January 25, 2024.
