US tech giant Meta plans to integrate display screens into its Meta Ray Ban smart glasses as early as 2025, driving the company's development in wearable technology.
According to sources cited by the media on Monday (December 23), Meta will collaborate with eyewear giant EssilorLuxottica to develop this new smart glasses. The highlight is the addition of a display screen that will prompt Meta's virtual assistant notifications and replies. The overall selling price is expected to be $300.
This news has caused quite a stir in the market. In the A-share securities market, the AI glasses sector showed a fluctuating rebound trend during the midday period.
In fact, the existing Ray Ban Meta smart glasses are already a popular product of Meta. After launching its latest model in September 2023, it unexpectedly became popular among consumers, equipped with sensitive in ear speakers, cameras, and microphones, becoming a hot selling item in 60% of Ray Ban stores in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
According to reports, Meta also launched three new features for its Ray Ban smart glasses last week, including real-time artificial intelligence, real-time translation, and Shazam integration (music recognition function), all of which are currently only available to users in the United States and Canada.
If the latest report progresses smoothly, Meta will be able to maintain its position as a "leader" in the fields of augmented reality (AR) and wearable computing.

The current consensus in the technology industry is that wearable and AR technologies have the potential to replace smartphones as the next key computing platform.
Therefore, not only is Meta constantly making efforts to enter the wearable device market, but competitors such as Apple, Google, and Snap are also competing to develop their own similar products in this field.
In September of this year, Meta launched its augmented reality glasses prototype Orion. According to insiders, the company actually accelerated the development speed of Orion with the enthusiastic response of early testers.
Orion is Meta's first "fully functional" prototype AR glasses, equipped with a wristband component to receive users' neural signals so that customers can control Orion with their brains. This technology originated from the company's acquisition of CTRL Labs in 2019.
The users of this glasses can control the glasses through a combination of eye tracking, hand tracking, voice and nerve wristbands. Its large field of view, holographic display, silicon carbide lenses, and new human-computer interaction mode are all highlights, giving Meta the confidence to call it the "best AR glasses".
The latest report on the Ray Ban smart glasses with integrated display screens marks another step forward for Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg's vision for lightweight AR headsets, which aligns with Meta's strategy of integrating advanced technology into everyday wearable devices.
