Recently, the news about Ideal Car suddenly stalling and undergoing system upgrades while driving has attracted widespread attention. On December 15th, Liu Jie, Vice President of Ideal Automobile, firmly denied the claim that Ideal Automobile would perform OTA upgrades during driving in a Weibo post. Liu Jie emphasized that OTA upgrade will only be initiated under a series of strict conditions, including: the vehicle has reached the pre-set upgrade time, the vehicle speed is zero, the vehicle is in P gear, all four doors are locked, and the entire vehicle has been powered off.
In terms of ideal cars, the time for each OTA of the vehicle is related to the updated content of the OTA, usually between 30-50 minutes.
Ideal Auto also stated that the OTA process cannot be interrupted. The reason is that during the OTA upgrade process, the vehicle's controller will erase the current software and rewrite new software and configuration parameters. If interrupted during the upgrade period, incomplete data transmission and program file damage may occur, leading to system failure and affecting the normal use of the vehicle.
At the same time, the whole vehicle OTA involves software updates for multiple control units of the vehicle, and each module needs to ensure software compatibility. If the upgrade is interrupted, it may be due to software version mismatch between these systems, resulting in the inability to function properly.
