On December 13th, according to the Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily, Google reached a strategic cooperation agreement with domestic consumer grade AR glasses manufacturer XREAL at the Android XR launch event. XREAL's industry chain partners include Luxshare Precision, Longqi Technology, and others. Last week, XREAL released the XREAL One AR glasses equipped with its self-developed X1 spatial computing chip.
It is worth mentioning that just a few days before the release of the cooperation news, XREAL held a media communication meeting in Shanghai and introduced the company's new generation product XREAL One AR glasses, as well as the company's outlook on the development prospects of the AR industry. According to a report by China Securities Network, Xu Chi, founder, chairman, and CEO of XREAL, stated at a media conference that artificial intelligence (AI) is an opportunity no less than the level of the industrial revolution, and AR may be one of the best carriers of AI.
From a product perspective, Xu Chi pointed out that in the future, 70% of the experience of AR glasses will rely on the optimization of AI big models, such as the improvement of multimodal interaction, while the remaining 30% will lie in the improvement of hardware technologies such as optics.
In recent years, the AI glasses market has been exceptionally hot, attracting the influx of numerous technology giants and startups. In terms of shipment volume, XREAL is already the world's largest AR glasses manufacturer. IDC data shows that in the first three quarters of this year, XREAL's AR glasses had a global market share of 47.2%.
According to public information, XREAL was founded in Beijing, China in 2017 by former employees from Magic Leap, Google, and AMD. So far, XREAL has raised more than 240 million dollars accumulatively, with investors including Alibaba, Kwai, Weilai, China Internet Investment Fund, CICC Capital, Sequoia China, etc.
