On December 10, according to the WeChat official account of the State Administration of Market Supervision, recently, the State Administration of Market Supervision launched an investigation on Nvidia in accordance with the law because Nvidia was suspected of violating the Anti monopoly Law of the People's Republic of China and the Announcement of the State Administration of Market Supervision on the Anti monopoly Review Decision on Approving Nvidia to Acquire the Equity of Myers Technology Co., Ltd. with Additional Restrictive Conditions (Announcement of the State Administration of Market Supervision [2020] No. 16).
It is understood that this deal involves Nvidia's acquisition of Maxus for $6.9 billion in 2020, which has a profound impact on supercomputing and artificial intelligence. The State Administration for Market Regulation made a decision in April 2020 to approve the acquisition with additional restrictive conditions, requiring Nvidia and others to fulfill relevant obligations, such as not forcing bundling or attaching unreasonable transaction conditions when selling related products to the Chinese market, not obstructing or restricting customers from purchasing or using them independently, and not discriminating against customers who purchase independently. As for the specific restrictive conditions that Nvidia violated this time, it is currently unknown.
