Nippon Steel announced on September 5th that it has not received any updates from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) regarding its proposed $14.9 billion acquisition of US Steel. From the beginning of the regulatory review process, we have made it clear to the government that we do not believe this transaction will raise any national security issues
Previously, it was reported that US President Biden would block Japan Steel's acquisition of US steel companies on national security grounds.
