The Israeli military says the airstrike killed a commander and other militants. Israel stated that this commander helped lead the attack on Israel on October 7th.
The air raid flattened the entire residential area, leaving deep craters and hundreds of injured people being taken to hospitals. Officials say dozens of people have died in the hospital.
The Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on Tuesday that it strongly condemns Israel's attack on the Jabaliya refugee camp north of Gaza City, and stated that Israel's expansion of the attack is a dangerous escalation that undermines efforts to mediate and ease tensions.
The Gulf state stated in a statement that it considers the attack to be a "new massacre against the unarmed Palestinian people, especially children and women".
Qatar has been participating in negotiations with Hamas to release approximately 200 hostages hijacked by Hamas during its attack on Israel on October 7th.
Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have also condemned the attack on the refugee camp.
The United Arab Emirates issued a statement on X (formerly Twitter) stating that "indiscriminate attacks will have irreparable consequences for the region".
