On July 19th, at the 2024 Baidu Health Industry Ecology Conference held in Beijing, He Mingke, Senior Vice President of Baidu Group and President of Baidu Big Health Business Group, delivered a keynote speech stating that as of now, more than 300000 registered doctors on Baidu Health Platform have served over 210 million patients, collaborated with more than 3000 professional content institutions to produce over 600 million health contents, collected information from over 160000 public medical institutions, achieved 6000 daily visits to hospitals through AI matching, collaborated with over 1000 pharmaceutical and medical equipment enterprises, and professional science popularization information covers 98% of frequently searched drugs.
He Mingke stated that Baidu Health has been exploring AI for a long time. As early as 2018, Baidu began to lay out authoritative medical content production and attempted to integrate AI+medical scenarios with products such as CDSS (Clinical Decision Support System); In 2020, Baidu Health brand was officially established and began to build a service ecosystem. Services such as pharmaceutical e-commerce and online consultation were launched at that time; In 2021, with the establishment of Baidu's big health business group, Baidu has completed the integration of resources and capabilities in the medical and health sector; After several years of development, the "Patient Medicine" service loop has gradually been established, and AI production tools such as large models have been applied, endowing Baidu Health with comprehensive "intelligent productivity".
He Mingke introduced that with the dual technical ability of Internet+AI, Baidu Health also provided AI supported digital intelligence services for more than 800 hospitals above the level.
There is a famous "impossible triangle" in the healthcare industry, which refers to three key elements that are difficult to achieve simultaneously in medical productivity: quality ("seeing the disease well"), cost ("seeing the disease well"), and efficiency ("seeing the disease well"). He Mingke stated that although AI cannot directly treat humans, it is an important balance point in this' impossible triangle '. This is also a major vision of Baidu Health, to leverage the inclusive value of AI and enable everyone to "look up to it, look up to it, and see it well".
Baidu Health has provided over 300000 free medical consultations to the public through the integration of fragmented medical resources, and has opened up the platform's consultation capabilities, jointly building consultation platforms with more than 50 institutions such as local health commissions and associations. In addition, Baidu Health has utilized its AI and platform capabilities to create clinical opportunities for more than 100000 patients, and through over 7000 clinical enrollment projects, has provided difficult and rare disease patients with access to medication, solving problems such as information asymmetry, difficulty in diagnosis, and shortage of medical supplies.
He Mingke believes that everyone can "afford illness" through hierarchical management. Generally speaking, health needs can be divided into four levels: health issues, hospitalization issues, ongoing treatment issues, and MDT (Multidisciplinary Consultation) issues, which are progressively addressed. However, the needs of most people may not necessarily require "medical treatment", such as first finding a suitable hospital and doctor, reviewing laboratory reports, understanding how to take medication, answering routine health questions, etc. They do not need to go directly to the hospital for medical treatment.
To this end, Baidu Health has released a family of health intelligent agents: AI precision finding doctors, AI medical report interpretation, AI medication assistant, AI skin detection, AI sleep assistant and other products. They can serve users in the form of health assistants to accurately find the right hospital and doctor, understand medical reports, understand drug usage, answer daily health inquiries in multiple rounds, and support multimodal interaction of text, images, and videos. At present, the daily active users of AI health Q&A services have exceeded 2 million, the cumulative service of AI medication assistants has exceeded 20 million, and AI medical reports support over 100 types of reports.
Baidu Health is based on big model technology to intelligently determine plus qualification distribution and achieve "intelligent plus". Currently, it has been implemented in top tier hospitals such as Wuhan Union Medical College Hospital, with an AI accuracy rate of 95% compared to manual screening by experts. At the same time, Baidu Health has also improved the diagnosis and treatment capabilities of grassroots doctors through products such as CDSS (Clinical Decision Support System), effectively reducing misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis. It is reported that the product has been implemented in over 4000 primary healthcare institutions.
