On Tuesday (October 31st) local time, Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed more information about the long awaited electric pickup truck, Cybertruck, in a podcast interview program.
Musk revealed that Tesla will offer two Cyberrack models, one of which is a high-performance version known as the 'Beast Mode version'. He stated on social media last month that the high-performance car model is "very impressive".
He revealed that the weight of the vehicle will be 6000 pounds (approximately 2.7 tons) and 7000 pounds (approximately 3.2 tons), depending on the different versions. In contrast, the Ford Lightning weighs over 6000 pounds, while the Rivian R1T weighs over 8000 pounds.
Musk also stated that Cyberrack will be equipped with bulletproof steel plates, and people can also choose to purchase bulletproof glass for vehicles. "If you want, anything can be bulletproof, but the glass must be very thick to be bulletproof, so bulletproof windows will be fixed.
Although the vehicle is heavy, Musk still expects the 'Beast Edition' Cybertruck to accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in less than 3 seconds.
Musk also mentioned that Tesla's goal is to produce approximately 200000 Cybertrucks per year, which is lower than the 250000 he mentioned in his earnings call last month. And media analysis suggests that he may have made a mistake in the interview.
At that time, during a conference call, Musk told analysts, "We were digging our own grave when developing Cyberrack. It's difficult for you to bring this rare special product to the market, achieve mass production, and make a big profit
On the same day as the release of the third quarter report, Tesla released a forecast stating that Cybertruck will officially launch its first global delivery on November 30th. Musk has confirmed that the official details of the vehicle will be announced at the delivery event on that day.
