New Beijing News (Reporter Wang Ziyang) On June 6th, the New Beijing News learned that Coca Cola released the "2023 Sustainable Development Report", which showed that in 2023, 34% of Coca Cola's electricity consumption in mainland China came from renewable energy, further increasing from 27% in 2022. Six factories in mainland China have adopted 100% renewable energy electricity, and 14 factories have installed rooftop solar power generation systems, generating up to 27000 megawatt hours of electricity annually.
In 2023, while continuously increasing investment and expanding business in China, Coca Cola Pacific achieved a reduction of 200000 tons in absolute carbon emissions from core business operations in mainland China, a 47% decrease from 2018. Behind this achievement, Coca Cola has implemented a series of green carbon reduction measures with technological innovation as the core. Taikoo Coca Cola utilizes innovative technology to improve energy efficiency. The hot water center project, which was piloted in mainland China in 2023, collects and utilizes waste heat from production facilities to reduce the demand for purchased steam and natural gas, achieving a 4% improvement in energy efficiency and saving 35% of steam usage.
In addition to green carbon reduction, Taikoo Coca Cola has partnered with the China Greening Foundation to build a sustainable community and completed the second "carbon reduction manor" in Hongyun Village, Maodao Township, Hainan Province. With carbon neutrality as the core, it aims to create a replicable example of rural revitalization and carbon reduction that integrates low-carbon environmental protection and rural revitalization.
"Although the world and our business continue to face challenges on sustainable development issues, we are still brave enough to set ambitious goals and remain confident in gradually achieving a sustainable future," said Su Wei, President of Coca Cola Pacific
