On May 21st, the Jilin Anhui Cooperation and Development Exchange Symposium was held in Changchun. China FAW has signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with iFlytek and NIO.
Among them, FAW China and Xunfei University of Science and Technology will cooperate around infrastructure, algorithms and tools, intelligent platforms represented by intelligent computing centers, as well as intelligent solutions for multiple scenarios on the enterprise and automotive sides.
The cooperation between China FAW and NIO focuses on strategic cooperation in battery technology standards, research and development of rechargeable and replaceable battery models, battery asset management and operation, construction and operation of a charging and swapping ecological service network, and procurement and supporting facilities for the battery industry.
This means that NIO's battery swapping alliance has added another heavyweight partner. As of now, NIO has reached cooperation with GAC, Lotus, Geely, Changan, Jiangqi Group, Chery, and others in the field of battery swapping, and the "circle of friends" for battery swapping continues to expand.
In addition, NIO has also engaged in comprehensive battery swapping cooperation with energy and power industry enterprises such as Sinopec, CNOOC, Shell, State Grid, and Southern Power Grid, jointly promoting the rapid development of the electric vehicle battery swapping ecosystem.
Li Bin, founder, chairman, and CEO of NIO, stated that this strategic cooperation between the two sides is expected to further promote the standardization of battery swapping technology, the generalization of battery swapping modes, and the scaling process of battery swapping networks, in order to solve user mileage anxiety.
Li Bin revealed to a reporter from Securities Times · e Company that building a battery swapping alliance is a long-term strategy. NIO has made it clear from the beginning of car manufacturing that the charging and swapping system must be open to the outside world. However, compared to the openness of charging networks, achieving openness and forming consensus in the field of battery swapping is very difficult.
"Just like in the early days of the cloud service industry, everyone was building their own data centers and data centers, and it was hard to imagine putting their source code in someone else's hands." Li Bin said that at the beginning of building the battery swapping alliance, it also went through a long process of exploration and adjustment. But recently, more and more car companies have realized the value of jointly building a battery swapping system. This can not only reduce the cost of each company's layout, but also be valuable to users and the whole society.
Li Bin believes that although the speed of the implementation of the battery swapping alliance is not yet as fast, and the corresponding models have not been launched in bulk yet, in two to three years, there will be further consensus in the industry, and the promotion of the specific business of the battery swapping alliance will require a process.
"Many people are accustomed to opposing battery swapping and charging. However, in fact, battery swapping and charging do not conflict, and real-time monitoring of the battery pack can be achieved to ensure the long-term operation of the battery." Li Bin said that NIO insists on the underlying logic of battery swapping, still starting from the interests of users. Nowadays, this idea is increasingly recognized by peers, and this is also an important reason for the continuous expansion of the battery swapping alliance.
