On Thursday (December 19th) local time, the US Treasury Department released its International Capital Flows (TIC) report for October 2024, stating that China's holdings of US Treasury bonds reached their lowest level in over 15 years in October! Is the wave of US bond reductions spreading globally. The report shows that in October, the size of US treasury bond bonds held by foreign investors ended five consecutive months of growth. Led by Japan and China, as many as seven of the top ten "creditors" in the United States chose to reduce their holdings that month. Meanwhile, China's US Treasury holdings have further hit a new low since 2009.
