On May 15th, Honda Motor signed a memorandum of understanding with IBM to jointly develop semiconductor chips and software technology for future "software defined cars" in the long term.
According to the memorandum of understanding, it is expected that from 2030, the accelerated promotion and application of intelligent and artificial intelligence technology will create new opportunities for the development of "software defined cars". Meanwhile, compared to traditional mobile product cameras, "software defined cars" will significantly increase the design complexity, processing performance, and corresponding power consumption of semiconductors. Therefore, it is crucial for both parties to enhance their independent research and development capabilities in next-generation computing technology.
