Tesla revealed during a conference call with investors in the third quarter that its cheapest car, tentatively named the Model 2, will be produced on its next-generation platform at a speed unprecedented in the automotive industry.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk once pursued the futuristic appearance of the Model 2, but his latest claim is that this will inevitably become Tesla's cheapest car, a "practical" car.
He quickly added that it will still be beautiful, but it won't 'captivate you' because it won't have features such as a 14 inch suspension or other flashy points like Cyberrack.
When it comes to the futuristic appearance, one can associate it with the novel appearance of Cybertruck electric pickup trucks. During the third quarter performance announcement, Musk stated that the Cyberrack delivery event will be held on November 30th at the super factory in Austin, Texas.
However, compared to the two, Cyberrack may find it difficult to enter the market and achieve mass production due to its complex structure and functionality, but Model 2 will be a "rapid slope".
Tesla Model 2 is expected to be released next year at a price of less than $25000 (currently equivalent to RMB 183000) and will be launched in 2025.
Although Model 2 may not sound as exciting as Cyberrack, for many potential electric car buyers who are hesitant due to high prices, Model 2 may be exactly what they have been waiting for.
According to reports, Tesla has also transferred its initial Model 2 production plan from a super factory in Mexico to a super factory in Texas.
As for the construction plan of the Mexican super factory, Musk believes that in an era of high interest rates and economic uncertainty, demand may slow down. He pointed out that he will wait for the economic situation to become clear before expanding his plans to build factories in Mexico.
