Baidu Vice President Qu Jing's controversial short video incident has made the latest progress.
On the early morning of May 9th, Qu Jing posted an apology and explanation on her social media, expressing deep reflection and humbly accepting criticism.
Qu Jing stated that before releasing the short video, the lack of prior consultation with the company does not comply with relevant procedures and does not represent the company's position. Many inappropriate and uncomfortable aspects in the video have caused misunderstandings about the company's values and corporate culture from the outside, causing serious harm. We sincerely apologize for this.
Previously, multiple short videos posted by Qu Jing on social media platforms have caused widespread controversy on the internet. In the video, Qu Jing revealed that she had been reported in 300 letters by employees, but most of the content was defamatory and fabricated. In addition, related topics such as "employees breaking up and resigning in a second", "why should we consider employees' families", and "reporting letters spreading throughout workstations" have sparked discussions among migrant workers and frequently appeared on Weibo hot searches.
The above statement comes from Qu Jing's personal Tiktok account, "I am Qu (q ú) Jing". According to data from XinDou, the account posted its first video from May 1st, followed by 4 consecutive posts. As of May 6th, a total of 5 videos were posted, focusing on workplace topics. But in the afternoon of May 7, all her Tiktok videos were deleted after the relevant topics were on the hot search.
At present, the account has accumulated 125000 likes and 991000 followers. However, according to media inquiries, as early as March 2022, the account had over 900000 followers. In addition, fan portraits show that the majority of female fans on this account account account account, accounting for 93.65%. The original name of the account was "Xinxia Original Clothing".
In the video, Qu Jing labeled herself with three tags: "Baidu Vice President", "Public Relations Number One Position", and "Huawei Former Vice President of Public Relations". During the further fermentation of the video, Qu Jing deleted the relevant positions at Huawei, leaving only "Baidu Vice President".
According to public information, Qu Jing graduated from the School of Foreign Affairs and has served as a journalist at the Central News Interview Center of Xinhua News Agency, Vice President of Huawei's Public and Government Affairs Department, and Minister of China's Media Affairs Department. In August 2021, she joined Baidu as the Vice President of Public Relations (VP), responsible for the public communication department of the group.
Qu Jing's short video controversy also triggered a series of fermentation reactions. In the Tiktok comment area, Qu Jing commented on Baidu's "Wei Zexi Event" by replying to netizens' comments, including "no comparability", "not knowing first-hand information and the core appeals, unable to judge", "it is not advisable to make comments after eight years", etc.
