Nomura Holdings, Japan's largest securities firm, announced on October 27th that its net profit for the three months ended September 30th had more than doubled year-on-year, to 35.2 billion yen (234 million US dollars), mainly driven by the recovery of retail brokerage business and the recent rise of the Japanese stock market.
