Tesla has further lowered the starting price of its electric vehicles due to market weakness. On Friday, the Model Y, S, and X models on Tesla's US official website were all reduced in price, while the Chinese market also saw an overall price reduction.
According to the official website, Tesla has collectively reduced prices by about $2000 in the United States. The cheapest version of Model Y is currently priced at $42990 in the United States, hitting a historic low. The other two more expensive Model Y versions were also discounted by $2000, and the Model X model's price has also dropped to its lowest level so far.
The same goes for the Chinese market, with the adjusted Model 3 price dropping from the previous 245900 yuan to 231900 yuan, and the Model Y price dropping from 263900 yuan to 249900 yuan, with a price reduction of 5.3%.
In addition, the selling price of the Model S has dropped to 684900 yuan, and the selling price of the Model S PLAID version has dropped to 814900 yuan. The selling price of Model X has dropped to 724900 yuan, and the selling price of Model X PLAID version has dropped to 824900 yuan.
In the past week, Tesla has experienced many events such as layoffs and suspension of Cybertruck deliveries, which have directly led to a decline of over 10% in Tesla's stock price.
Troubled by troubles
Earlier last Sunday, Musk announced in an employee memo that he would lay off more than 10% of employees worldwide. Subsequently, the media exposed two key Tesla executives leaving Tesla.
On Wednesday, Tesla announced in a committee statement that it will demand shareholders to vote again on CEO Musk's $56 billion compensation plan, which was declared invalid by a Delaware court in January.
On Friday, Tesla revealed that it had recalled nearly 3900 Cybertruck pickup trucks to repair or replace the accelerator pedal. It is reported that the Cybertruck accelerator pedal may shift and cause the vehicle to accelerate unintentionally, thereby increasing the risk of collision.
Later on Friday, Musk also announced that he would postpone his visit to India because Tesla's workload was heavy and he couldn't get away from it. And Musk's trip to India was once considered by the market to represent Tesla's promise of significant expansion in the Indian market.
Prior to this series of events, Tesla released its vehicle delivery data for the first quarter. In the first three months of this year, the company only delivered 386810 vehicles, far below analyst expectations of 426940.
The market is currently waiting for Tesla's first quarter financial report to be released next Tuesday (April 23).
