US stocks close higher Oil prices tumble

China concept new energy vehicle stocks rose across the board, with NIO up 2.5%, Xiaopeng Automobile up 3.1% and Ideal Automobile up 1.53%.
Europe's three major stock indexes closed mixed. Germany's DAX rose 0.1% to 15,099.92, France's CAC40 was flat at 6,996.73 and Britain's FTSE 100 fell 0.77% to 7,412.45.
In commodities, the price of U.S. WTI crude oil futures fell sharply on Wednesday, and hit the lowest closing price since the end of August. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude for November delivery fell $5.01, or 5.6 per cent, to settle at $84.22 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Based on the most active contract, it was the lowest closing price since Aug. 31.

Apple CEO Tim Cook cashes out $41 million

With Apple's share price falling from a record high, CEO Tim Cook reportedly sold about $41 million worth of Apple stock after taxes, the largest amount in more than two years. According to an Oct. 3 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Cook sold 511,000 shares.
Analysts pointed out that Cook's sale of a large number of shares could trigger investor concerns and have some impact on Apple's share price.
Apple releases iPhone update

Designed to fix overheating issues

On October 4, Apple released a software update to address overheating issues reported by some early buyers of the iPhone 15 Pro series.
Apple said the update "provides important bug fixes and security updates that address an issue that could cause iphones to operate at temperatures higher than expected." The update also applies to older iphones and ipads.
