The Chairman of the Asma Supervisory Board stated in an interview on March 18th that the company faces "destructive" and "unfortunate" restrictions on exporting chip manufacturing equipment to China. He said that in the long run, the restrictions proposed by the United States may harm Asma's research and development budget. He also said that Europe underestimated its power in this struggle. If the EU unites, it can sit at the same negotiating table as the United States and China. Smedegaard Andersen also stated that Asma has no plans to leave the Netherlands, but as a growth company, it must continuously evaluate its expansion plans.
