Apple's investment in mainland China is not limited to this. On March 12th, Apple announced the expansion of its applied research laboratory in China to support product manufacturing. The company will enhance the capabilities of the Shanghai Research Center to provide support for the reliability, quality, and material analysis of all product lines.
Later this year, Apple will also open a new application research laboratory in Shenzhen to provide stronger support for employees in the entire region and deepen cooperation with local suppliers. This new laboratory will enhance testing and research capabilities for products such as iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro.
"At Apple, we are proud to be able to deeply cultivate China and expand our world-class facilities here," said Ge Yue, Vice President and Managing Director of Greater China at Apple. "Every day, our excellent team in China is helping to drive innovation and challenge limits. This investment will further deepen our commitment and better support us in providing world-class products to our users."
It is understood that Apple has invested over 1 billion yuan in its advanced application research laboratory, and this investment will continue to grow with the addition of new facilities in Shenzhen. This expansion is a continuation of Apple's continuous investment in research and development in China. Currently, Apple has research and development centers in Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, and Shenzhen, and has been committed to giving back to the community and helping Chinese supply chain workers expand their development opportunities. In the past five years, Apple's R&D team in China has doubled in size, playing a crucial role in the development of features such as portrait lighting and night mode.
