Faraday Future (FF), an electric vehicle startup founded by Jia Yueting, has released its first recall plan, which includes a total of 11 FF91 cars produced last year.
According to the filing information from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the United States, the main reason for Faraday's future recall is the malfunction of the FF91 car's airbag warning light. If there is a problem with the vehicle's airbags, an error in the software system will prevent the warning lights from being activated, posing a potential threat to the driver's personal safety.
To this end, Faraday plans to arrange for staff to come and pick up the vehicles involved in the recall, conduct a comprehensive repair, and then deliver them back to the owners. Starting from March 15th, customers will gradually receive notifications.
Data shows that since the start of delivery in August last year, Faraday Future has only delivered 10 FF 91 2.0 Futurist Alliances, including one owned by Jia Yueting himself. According to official disclosure, among the 10 car owners are well-known American real estate developers and entertainment industry celebrities.
Last month, Matthias Aydt, the global CEO of Faraday Future, stated in an open letter that the Hanford self operated factory in California is expected to have an annual production capacity of up to 10000 vehicles and delivery progress is expected to improve this year.
At the same time, Faraday is also facing a shortage of funds in the future. In February of this year, FF's headquarters in Los Angeles, USA, had a dispute with its landlord over rent, and was sued by the landlord, Rexford Industries, for unpaid rent and related expenses. In response to this, Faraday Future stated that it is actively coordinating and friendly negotiations with the landlord to seek a solution and resolve the issue as soon as possible.
As the founder of Faraday's future, Jia Yueting himself has recently been deeply embroiled in a dispute with Gaohe Motors over plagiarism and infringement.
At the beginning of this month, Faraday Future and its Chinese subsidiaries filed a lawsuit against former Faraday Future executive and founder of Chinese Express, Ding Lei, and other related companies, against the Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court in Guangdong Province, China, on the grounds of infringing on trade secrets and unfair competition.
Jia Yueting also posted on social media stating that Ding Lei and Gaohe Automobile are suspected of stealing and infringing on FF's intellectual property, technical data, and commercial secrets. He also stated that the HiPhi X model under Gaohe Automobile is very similar in appearance to the Faraday Future FF91 model.
Regarding this, Gaohe Automobile and Ding Lei immediately issued a clarification statement, stating that there is no plagiarism or unfair competition. Gaohe X, Z, and Y series models are independently developed and jointly developed with supplier partners, with independent intellectual property rights. Prior to this, Gaohe has not been sued by FF Company. Gaohe Automobile stated that it will protect the rights and reputation of the company and its founders from infringement through legal means.
In a recent live broadcast by Gaohe Automobile, Yang Yueqing, the engineering project director of Gaohe Automobile, responded to the lawsuit by stating that Gaohe is not concerned about FF's lawsuit and his comments on social media, and has not received any formal court notice or letter so far.
