On September 24, local time, the official account of Tesla's humanoid robot Optimus Prime released a video saying that Optimus Prime has once again evolved to rely solely on vision to classify objects and complete simple yoga movements: "Its neural network has completed end-to-end training: input video, output control."
In the comments section, Tesla founder Elon Musk responded with one word: "Progress."

In the video, Optimus performs a task of classifying objects by color, placing blocks of different colors into trays of corresponding colors. Later, a researcher joined the test, when Optimus Prime reached out to the building blocks from the original displacement, and this "difficult" did not stump Optimus, it can reposition and pick up the shifted building blocks, showing that it has the ability to adapt to the changing environment and make adjustments at any time.
Optimus Prime also demonstrated a "deviation correction" function. When Optimus puts a block down in the tray, instead of moving directly to the next block, he stops and takes corrective action, restraightening the fallen block.

In the Twitter comments section, many users expressed surprise at the robot's progress, considering that just two years have passed since it was first unveiled in 2021. However, some commentators laughed that the video looked CGI (computer generated).
It's been more than four months since Optimus Prime's official Twitter account last posted a message. In May, an official video was released showing Optimus Prime's progress since Tesla's 2022 AI Day, focusing on the robot's improved hand movements.
In the second Tesla Artificial Intelligence Day in 2022, Optimus Prime prototype first appeared without any support, equipped with 2.3kWh battery pack, height of about 172CM, weight 73kg, sedentary energy consumption of 100w, slow walking energy consumption of 500w, the freedom of the whole body more than 200, its bionic fingers are very flexible, It has 27 degrees of freedom and can walk naturally.
Tesla's video at the meeting showed that Optimus Prime can squat, pick up boxes, grab objects, and even water a series of actions, and can be deployed in the Tesla factory to work, and can form a memory of the path of walking. In addition, Optimus has applied a lot of Tesla car development logic, and Tesla's fully autonomous driving system FSD has also been directly applied to Optimus.
At the time, Musk had said that Tesla would commit to mass production and reduce costs, and that the future production of Optimus Prime would reach millions of units, and its price would be lower than that of Tesla cars, which are expected to end up costing less than $20,000.
In the second quarter earnings call on July 20 this year, when asked about the market demand for Optimus, Musk said that the Optimus production will be huge, however, there are many challenges in the mass production of Optimus, such as there is no supplier to produce its required actuators, which must be customized. He also mentioned that Tesla has now produced 10 Optimus, and it is expected that the Optimus will be used in some production activities in the Tesla factory next year.
