According to People's Daily, on October 23, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning presided over a regular press conference.
A reporter asked, on October 20th, the US White House issued a document stating that China provides coercive and unsustainable financing to developing countries around the world, and the US will be committed to providing credible alternative solutions. What is the spokesperson's comment on this?
Mao Ning stated that the US statement is not in line with the facts. China's investment and financing cooperation with developing countries always follows international rules, market rules, and debt sustainability principles, respects the wishes of relevant countries, and does not attach political conditions. The hat of 'coercion' cannot be placed on China's head.
Mao Ning pointed out that since last year, the United States has raised interest rates at an unprecedented rate, which has worsened the debt of many developing countries and exacerbated the volatility of global financial markets. As the world's largest economy, the United States has a responsibility to help developing countries and expects the United States to come up with a genuine solution, rather than blindly engaging in geopolitical games.
