The Vision Pro headset is the main product that Apple is promoting this year, and after its official release on February 2nd, the product clearly entered a critical stage - the return inspection period.
According to a technology media report, some consumers of Vision Pro returned the product less than two weeks after purchase, mainly due to issues with comfort, usability, and safety.
This headset is referred to by Apple CEO Tim Cook as the beginning of a new era of computing, providing users with various exploration opportunities for augmented reality. But according to some consumers, the lack of supporting applications means that this headset is largely a non playable large toy.
A user complained on X that he decided to return the Vision Pro after using it for two hours. The headset is indeed cool, but there are not many applications that can keep him using this product. He prefers the natural retina "display screen", which has not yet had the problem of mouse delay.
Some users also reported experiencing dizziness and headaches, which have been technical pain points in AR and VR technologies in the past.
Return troubles
Apple has not released official sales and return data, but a new survey by Cut of Mac, a popular news website, shows that 45% of respondents expect to return the Vision Pro. According to Apple's 14 day return policy, February 16th is the last return date for the first batch of users who purchased headsets.
However, some also claim that after visiting Apple's retail stores in the United States, the return situation of Vision Pro was not as scary. It is reported that as of February 16th, the return rate of Vision Pro has not been significantly higher than that of Apple's other products.
Sources from retail stores pointed out that the expected return rate for Apple may be high, but in reality, this is not the case. Others have revealed that most of the returns they receive come from online purchases, as was the case with the Mac Pro when it was shipped, and the same applies to the Vision Pro now.
However, Apple officials clearly will not disclose the return rate of any product, and neither observations from sources nor votes from unofficial websites can confirm the return status of Vision Pro.
Two major return groups
However, retail store personnel also acknowledge that there have been two types of people who have returned Vision Pro in a centralized manner. One type is people who have physiological discomfort with their head display, and may experience dizziness or even vomiting after using the head display.
Another group of people are bloggers who use the return policy as a free trial policy. An Apple retail store employee expressed dissatisfaction, stating that every time it is those Youtubers (YouTube bloggers) who come to return a product, almost every Apple product is like this.
