25 counties in California, USA are suing Musk's Tesla company for mishandling hazardous waste at facilities across the state. Los Angeles, Alameda, San Joaquin and other counties filed a lawsuit in California court on January 30th local time, demanding civil penalties and an injunction against Tesla, and demanding that Tesla handle waste properly in the future.
These counties accuse Tesla of violating state unfair business laws and hazardous waste management laws, labeling waste improperly, and sending materials to landfills that cannot accept hazardous materials. The hazardous waste management law in California may impose civil penalties of up to $70000 per day for each violation.
