On January 29th local time, Amazon abandoned its $1.4 billion acquisition of iRobot, a robotic vacuum cleaner, as EU regulators had previously threatened to block the deal and Amazon was unable to bridge the gap. IRobot, which has been struggling recently, has announced that its CEO Colin Angle has resigned, and a restructuring plan initiated by the company will result in approximately 350 layoffs, accounting for 31% of the total workforce. Amazon will pay iRobot $94 million for terminating the transaction.
