Elon Musk said that if he didn't have 25% of the voting rights, he would rather develop artificial intelligence (AI) products outside of Tesla, indicating that the billionaire is considering his stake in the world's most valuable electric vehicle manufacturer, and it is very clear that he wants to gain greater control.
According to data collected by the media, Tesla's CEO currently holds over 12% of the company's shares. Musk argued in an article on X that Tesla is a collection of over a dozen startups. He called for a comparison between Tesla and General Motors Corp., which is traditionally one of the leaders in the automotive industry.
As Tesla's largest single shareholder, Musk did not elaborate on his ideas in more detail. This wealthiest person in the world is working hard to address shareholder dissatisfaction with a range of issues, from Tesla's successor CEO plan to accusations that he has been distracted by his work at X.
He wrote in a post on X, "Without about 25% voting control, I wouldn't want Tesla to develop into a leader in artificial intelligence and robotics."
In subsequent replies, he also generously admitted that this was to ensure the influence of his vote.
Musk has always believed that advanced artificial intelligence technology may be the "most destructive technology ever", despite many risks. And he himself and his companies have never stopped pursuing AI.
Last year, he established a company called X. in Nevada, USA AI's artificial intelligence company has launched TrustGPT to compete with the booming ChatGPT market. He himself is the sole director of the company, and Jared Birchall, the Managing Director of his family office, serves as the Secretary of the Board.
At the same time, he also warned that AI will bring risks to the public and called for corresponding regulation of the development of the artificial intelligence industry to minimize "potential catastrophic consequences".
