According to a recent list released by the US Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO), Apple has obtained a technology patent for the Apple Pencil, which not only applies to iPhones but also to augmented reality/virtual reality/mixed reality applications. The new Apple Pencil is equipped with optical sensors that can be used for interaction on surfaces that do not have touch functionality.
