Musician John Legend will launch his first technology startup, a social application called 'It's Good', providing users with personalized food and travel recommendations.
The company raised $5 million this month from investors such as Lightspeed Venture Partners, restaurant owner David Chang, and entrepreneur Jessica Alba. Lightspeed Venture Partners is a Silicon Valley venture capital firm that made early bets on Snap. The application was launched in March and is only available to specific users, currently limited to invited users.
It's Good claims to be a more refined, professional, and personalized recommendation engine compared to existing platforms such as Yelp and Google Reviews. On those platforms, it is difficult to filter through the large number of comments from strangers on restaurants.

Legend said at the Tech Live conference of The Wall Street Journal on Monday that this is in some ways a response to the negative attitude that is flooding the internet. He acknowledges that this form requires people to believe that the recommender is sincere, but he says it is an indispensable thing for It's Good. In fact, it's not designed for negative reviews at all, "he said." Either recommend or not recommend
This application provides recommendations from users' own social circles, critics, celebrities, influencers, and other public figures. The first batch of users included Chang and Alba, as well as NBA player Harrison Barnes and actress Minka Kelly.
