On December 1st, Red Star Capital announced that Tesla's (TSLA. US) electric pickup truck Cybertruck has started its first batch of deliveries at a super factory in Texas, USA, and has officially announced its price. The Cybertruck rear wheel drive version is priced at $49890 (equivalent to RMB 356000), while the all wheel drive and beast versions are priced at $68890 (equivalent to RMB 491500) and $96390 (equivalent to RMB 687700), respectively.
This price includes the company's estimated $7500 federal tax credit, as well as a $3600 gasoline cost savings over a period of 3 years. The starting price of Cybertruck without discounts is $60990 (equivalent to RMB 435000), $79990 (equivalent to RMB 571000), and $99900 (equivalent to RMB 714000).
This is more than 50% higher than Musk's estimated quote of slightly less than $40000 when he first released this car in 2019. And the cheapest rear wheel drive version will not be delivered until 2025.
Gene Munster, managing partner of Deepwater Asset Management, said that this is much more expensive than he imagined. "They need to increase production to lower prices, and they know they won't be able to produce much next year. The reality is that Cybertruck hasn't really been released yet."
Cybertruck is the world's first pure electric pickup truck, which took four years from release to delivery. According to third-party organizations, the current order volume of Cybertruck has exceeded 2 million vehicles.
The Cybertruck adopts a stainless steel exoskeleton body, armored glass, and all terrain tires, and the body uses integrated die-casting technology; Has a traction force of 4990 kilograms and can load 1.13 tons of cargo; Accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 2.7 seconds, with a top speed of 209 kilometers per hour; By using wire controlled steering and rear wheel steering, sports car level handling and a turning radius superior to most sedans can be achieved.
"More practical than trucks, faster than sports cars," Tesla said, "Cybertruck will overturn the driving experience and industry landscape in the pickup truck industry.".
Gary Blake, co-founder and managing partner of Future Fund, pointed out that due to pickup trucks occupying 20% of the US automotive market, Tesla's total sales in 2022 were 2.7 million units, and its future sales will significantly increase with the launch of Cybertruck. He expects Tesla's sales to increase by 53% in 2024.
However, Cybertruck has also faced some criticism and questioning. An analyst suggested last week that Tesla should completely cancel Cybertruck because it is unlikely to be profitable.
Musk described the difficulty of mass production of this car as digging a hole for himself during the third quarter financial report, stating that increasing production will be extremely difficult and may take at least 18 months. He stated that the goal of the Texas factory is to produce 250000 Cybertrucks annually, but this goal will not be achieved until at least 2025.
After the press conference, Tesla's decline in late trading expanded to 3%, ultimately closing at 1.66% and falling 2.02% after the market.
