Recently, the Tesla 11 car collision in Chengdu resulted in 3 people being slightly injured and multiple vehicles being damaged, sparking online discussions. On November 27th, Tesla responded that the vehicle involved in the accident has been temporarily detained by the police, and the company is actively cooperating with traffic police and relevant departments to determine the accident, including submitting relevant vehicle data.
Tesla stated that in response to the issue raised by the media and netizens regarding the accident video circulating online, we have responded as follows. The overall situation and responsibility determination of the final accident shall be based on the report issued by the traffic police:
Why did the vehicle suddenly accelerate during the collision in the video?
Through checking the backend data, it was found that during the collision in the video, the accelerator pedal of the vehicle involved was pressed 100% deep, and the speed increased from 54km/h to 132km/h at the time of the collision.
Why did the brake lights light up during the collision in the video?
This is because the collision in the video was not the first collision. In fact, after the first collision, the vehicle's "multi collision braking" function was triggered, so it was seen in the video that the brake lights were on. The backend data also shows that the driver did not press the brake pedal within 2 seconds after the collision in the video.
3. Does the video show that the brake lights are on but the vehicle is not stopping?
After checking the backend data, it was found in the video that the driver pressed the brake pedal 2 seconds after the collision occurred. Based on background data and vehicle damage status, after the first collision, the front wheels of the vehicle had fallen off, the brake system pipelines were damaged, and the vehicle could no longer brake normally.
The reporter noticed that on November 25th, according to a report from Chengdu Longquanyi Public Security Bureau, a small car collided with vehicles ahead at the intersection of Shiling Subway Station while driving towards Xihe on the Shiling Interchange ramp of Chengluo Avenue. The accident resulted in three people being slightly injured and receiving treatment at the hospital. The driver has been taken control on the spot and the accident is under further investigation and handling.
